SBFC – Poster Information

Abstract Submission

Register By February 28, 2013

All Poster Presenters must be registered and paid in full by 5PM EDT on February 28, 2013. Otherwise, your poster will be withdrawn from the program and website and space will not be reserved in the poster hall.

Manuscripts

Presenters, both oral and poster, are invited to submit manuscripts to the SIMB Journal of Industrial Microbiology and Microbiology (JIMB). Manuscripts will be peer-reviewed and those accepted will be published in future issues of JIMB with a notation that the information was first presented at the 34th Symposium on Biotechnology for Fuels and Chemicals. Poster Basics

The poster board surface area is 4 feet high by 4 feet wide (121.92 cm x 243.84 cm). There will be 2 posters per side of each 4 foot x 8 foot poster board. Larger posters may not overlap another. Failure to show courtesy to fellow presenters may result in removal of a poster.

Font on the poster should be easily legible at a distance of several feet. Graphs and figure legends should be short but informative.

Poster pins are available at the SIMB registration desk. Please do not write, draw or paste on the poster boards.

Student Awards

Students who are selected for the student awards in the Applied Science and Fundamental Science presentation categories will be judged onsite. Awardees will receive $500 each as well as a certificate. Presentation of the awards will be made at the banquet.

Poster Session Setup and Schedule

Each poster session is three (3) hours in length. Authors should be available during part of that time to answer questions, expand on the material and take part in discussions.

Abstracts scheduled for poster session presentation will be grouped by topic. Dates for specific topics will be posted to the website.

Poster sessions will be held:
Monday, April 29, 6:00-9:00 pm. If your poster ID ends with an uneven number, you should be available at your poster between 6:00-7:30 pm. If your poster ID ends with an even number, you should be available at your poster between 7:30-9:30 pm.
Tuesday, April 30, 6:00-9:00 pm. If your poster ID ends with an uneven number, you should be available at your poster between 6:00-7:30 pm. If your poster ID ends with an even number, you should be available at your poster between 7:30-9:30 pm.

Schedule:

Monday, April 29, 2013
8:30 am Registration begins.
11:00 am Poster setup begins as soon as poster numbers are displayed on the boards. All posters must be displayed by 5:00 pm.
Locate your poster number in the author index of the meeting program. Your poster number will be posted on your board prior to setup.
6:00-9:00 pm Poster session/reception. Please leave poster up until 12:00 noon on Thursday, May 2.
