About the SIMB Industry Award for Discovery, Innovation and Development in Industrial Microbiology and Biotechnology

The SIMB Corporate Award recognizes: “Discovery, Innovation, and Development in Industrial Microbiology and Biotechnology” and, within that framework, recognizes talent, creativity and innovation, and corporate leadership, over time, that have resulted in successful products that impact our world providing benefit to society.

Qualifications

The SIMB’s Industry Award for Discovery, Innovation, and Development in Industrial Microbiology and Biotechnology recognizes talent, creativity and innovation, and corporate leadership, over time, that have resulted in successful products or processes that impact our world and benefit to SIMB. These products should have had impact in the area of human health, bioenergy, bio-based bulk chemicals and specialty products, food and agriculture, and environment.

Nominations process

Nominations must come from an active full or emeritus SIMB member and should document in good detail the contributions of the nominee corporation for Discovery, Innovation, and Development in Industrial Microbiology and Biotechnology. The nomination should be sent to the chair of the Awards and Honors Committee accompanied by three letters of recommendation, two from SIMB members, in the relevant area of science that clearly state why the nominee corporation deserves the award by citing at least two examples. A history of interaction with SIMB such as membership/ exhibitor is beneficial but not required.
