Fairfax, VA (November 18, 2022) – Things are starting to look more normal after the pandemic thanks to vaccines, masks, and COVID treatments that are now widely available. In that spirit, the 2022 SIMB Annual Meeting was held in-person in San Francisco, California, from August 7–10, 2022. Between the return of many SIMB members and growth from new attendees discovering the value of SIMB, the Annual Meeting was a great success and was well attended with over 500 attendees.

A Year in Review

In 2022, SIMB launched several new initiatives, including an Online Engagement Task Force, a Policy and Advocacy Working Group, and a Student/Postdoc/Early-Career Ad-Hoc Committee. By year’s end, we’ll have hosted three major meetings—and we’ve been gearing up for four more in 2023! SIMB also hired a new Executive Director and a Marketing and Communications Coordinator, who have joined our longtime staff to support and expand upon the benefits and services SIMB members know and love.

Fairfax, VA (October 11, 2022) – Due to the recent impact of Hurricane Ian on Florida’s gulf coast, SIMB is relocating the 14th conference on Recent Advances in Fermentation Technology (RAFT®14) from the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point in Bonita Springs to the Caribe Royale in Orlando to ensure the meeting proceeds on schedule, November 6–9, 2022.

James Earle joins the Society for Industrial Microbiology and Biotechnology (SIMB) as the new Marketing and Communications Coordinator
Fairfax, VA (April 22, 2022) – The Society for Industrial Microbiology and Biotechnology is pleased to announce the hiring of its new Marketing and Communications Coordinator, James Earle, on April 1.
