The Society’s simplified membership types and new rates will help it offer more value to members than ever before.

Fairfax, VA (October 19, 2022) – As 2022 comes to an end, we here at SIMB are reflecting on what we’ve learned this year and reviewing our goals for the year ahead.

A Year in Review

In 2022, SIMB launched several new initiatives, including an Online Engagement Task Force, a Policy and Advocacy Working Group, and a Student/Postdoc/Early-Career Ad-Hoc Committee. By year’s end, we’ll have hosted three major meetings—and we’ve been gearing up for four more in 2023! SIMB also hired a new Executive Director and a Marketing and Communications Coordinator, who have joined our longtime staff to support and expand upon the benefits and services SIMB members know and love.

Fairfax, VA (October 11, 2022) – Due to the recent impact of Hurricane Ian on Florida’s gulf coast, SIMB is relocating the 14^th conference on Recent Advances in Fermentation Technology (RAFT®14) from the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point in Bonita Springs to the Caribe Royale in Orlando to ensure the meeting proceeds on schedule, November 6–9, 2022.

SIMB has a remarkable legacy of bringing together world-leading scientists from academia, industry and government sectors to present, discuss and debate the latest science and applications. We have a strong sense of community that is the backbone of SIMB. Building on these strong foundations, I am honored to take the helm of the Society for the next year to further shape our future as a Society.

44th Symposium on Biomaterials, Fuels and Chemicals

After the cancellation of the 2020 SBFC and the virtual 2021 SBFC, it was a pleasure to hold the 2022 SBFC in-person in New Orleans, from May 1st to May 4th. Despite the current challenges with the pandemic, the symposium had a great attendance, 207 people from government, industry, and academia and from 14 different countries.
