The Education Committee organizes yearly workshops held in conjunction with the SIMB meetings.

BTEC Short Courses
The Society for Industrial Microbiology and Biotechnology (SIMB) has partnered with North Carolina State University’s Biomanufacturing Training and Education Center (BTEC) to offer discounted professional short courses to SIMB members. The biotech industry continues to grow and staying at the cutting edge of industry developments is a competitive advantage for professionals and companies alike. Visit web site for course offerings.
SIMB members from industry receive a 20% discount on course registration; SIMB members from academia receive a 30% discount on registration. To receive your discount as a SIMB member, contact SIMB with the course information. SIMB will verify course availalbity and instructions for payment.
The Society’s Education Committee provides science fair certificates for presentation to winners of local science fairs. In addition, a cash award is presented to the winner of a regional or state science fair. Judges must be SIM members.
To participate as a judge, notify the education committee chair of the names and addresses of the participating schools or regions and date by which materials are requested. Certificates featuring the Society seal as well as, in some cases, a check will be provided for distribution. In addition, the school will receive a one-year subscription to SIMB News.
