Two New Ways to Engage for SIMB Members
Posted 2/8/23 by James Earle. Filed under Featured News, News and Updates.Fairfax, VA (February 7, 2023) – The Society for Industrial Microbiology and Biotechnology (SIMB) is always seeking new ways to bring its members together to connect and collaborate. Our meetings are premier opportunities for learning and networking with peers, but SIMB is also exploring new opportunities for members to get the most out of this community. Today, we’re excited to tell you about two of these new programs!
SIMB Mentoring Program
For members seeking career development, networking, and leadership advice or who want to share and sharpen their knowledge and skills, we welcome you to join SIMB’s new Mentoring Program, an exclusive opportunity only for SIMB members!
Everyone with a 2023 active SIMB membership is eligible to participate, and you can apply to be a mentor, a mentee, or both if you’d like! Both roles can be highly rewarding, of course, though you might be selected for just one role.
If you’re interested, please complete the relevant form(s) linked below so we can match you with a mentor or mentee based on your interests and background. Applications are due by Wednesday, February 15.
Mentor applicants, please complete the mentor form here.
Mentee applicants, please complete the mentee form here.
The program is being organized by SIMB President Nigel Mouncey, who will notify matched pairs in late February with a program overview to help you get started!
Career Talks Webinar Series
SIMB is also developing a new webinar series aimed at making learning and presenting opportunities more accessible to a greater range of professionals in the industry. Tell us about about your research, share your hard-earned career advice, and hone your communication skills!
Each webinar will also be made available to the public so that individuals of varying career level, economic level, age, or other diversity bias still have equal access.
SIMB members interested in giving a 15- to 30-minute presentation relevant to industrial microbiology and biotechnology are invited to fill out this form to help our team organize presentations for webinars throughout 2023.
Let’s make getting and sharing up-to-date information in the industry even easier!
