The 44rd Symposium on Biomaterials, Fuels and Chemicals (SBFC) will be held in person in New Orleans (USA) on May 1st-4th 2022! This year we are including 12 exciting sessions that cover leading-edge biotechnology topics towards the production of fuels, chemicals, and materials. Some of these new topics illustrate the evolution of the SBFC and include carbon sequestration, plastics deconstruction, and lignocellulose and organic waste conversion for the production of sustainable aviation fuels and performance-advantaged materials, bioaccumulation of inorganic materials, and improvement of bioenergy crops. In addition, this year we have also included 2 special topics to highlight the advances on the biotechnological production of food alternative proteins as well as the use of artificial intelligence and bio-foundries to accelerate the pace of synthetic biology. The SBFC will also cover hybrid approaches that combine biology, chemical separations, and catalysis, all towards moving forward our bioeconomy and bioenergy.
